« Quote of the Day | Main | Hey, Big Spenders » April 2, 2008Bredesen's ChoiceIf you've been paying attention to Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen's national media appearances in support of his proposal for an early mini-convention of Democrat super-delegates to decide whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama gets the party's presidential nomination, you will have seen Bredesen described as an "undecided" or "uncommitted" super-delegate. Apparently the mainstream media has forgotten this story that appeared in the London Times two years ago tomorrow in which Bredesen slammed Hillary Clinton and urged the party to find someone else for the nomination. The first signs of a Democratic revolt against Senator Hillary Clinton's much-anticipated march on the White House are emerging in the American South, where one of the party's most successful state governors called last week for Democrats to consider other candidates.Bredesen is no fan of Hillary Clinton. But his plan for that convention of super-delegates wouldn't have near the appeal if Democrats knew Bredesen wasn't quite as neutral in the race as he now portrays himself. (Hat tip: Sharon Cobb, who also has a thought about Clinton's self-comparison to Rocky.) Posted in Campaign Season
