Been There, Done That

Chris Hafner at CarLust.com remembers the Acura Integra GS-R. I had a 1996 Integra hatchback - not the GS-R model, but one step down to the Integra SE (Special Edition) model that combined luxury interior with the GS-R's sport suspension and wheels. The writer is correct - the Integra performed and handled so well that it inspired a shocking level of overconfidence. I nearly totaled mine on the way home from the dealership, doing about 95 up I-24 in Nashville, exiting on to I-440, believing the V-rated Michelins would keep it on the road despite the light rain. Thankfully, they did - but barely.

And the writer is right about the fuel economy, too. My Integra was supposed to get 31 mpg highway. It got 34. In the city, it was supposed to get 24 mpg but it consistently got 27.

If Acura brought the Integra back, I'd be first in line to buy one.
