« The Hart of the Matter | Main | The Weird Economics of Higher Education » March 13, 2008Support for Iraq War Rises SharplyThe Politico reports: According to late February polling conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 53 percent of Americans - a slim majority - now believe "the U.S. will ultimately succeed in achieving its goals" in Iraq. That figure is up from 42 percent in September 2007. The percentage of those who believe the war in Iraq is going "very well" or "fairly well" is also up, from 30 percent in February 2007 to 48 percent today. The Politico says - and I believe they are right - that the turnaround in public opinion may "reshape the political landscape." A year ago, John McCain bet his political career on backing the surge in Iraq. It's increasingly looking like he just might have made a winning bet. Posted in Campaign Season

Yes but that same study shows the public is less informed about Iraq War casualties than ever before. Ignorance is bliss. Posted by: Southern Beale at March 13, 2008 9:00 AMIf they were more informed they would know that casualties are way down, and that likely would fuel their rising expectation of victory in Iraq.
