This "save our souls" issue is grossly taken out of context. Read the actual words of the quote rather than what someone told you that it said. The exact words from Mrs. Obama were:

"That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation."

This is clearly not a promise that Obama is going save anyone's soul or a suggestion that he will. This is simply an observation that Obama understands that "we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done."

Moreover she states that "we have to fix our souls." This is clearly meant to say "fix your own soul" or to take it away from the spiritual metaphor, she is saying that as Americans we need to rearrange our priorities to help the poor, uninsured, etc.

This is really not a big deal. It is typical liberal rhetoric and not some alarming theocratic message like so many are trying to suggest.

Frankly, I've heard much more alarming words come from the mouth and supporters of our current President.
