Vote Fraud?

tnflag.jpgNewsChannel5 has uncovered a clearcut case of vote fraud, in which a severally mentally disabled woman somehow is recorded as voting in recent elections in Davidson County. NewsChannel5 doesn't say it, but I've confirmed that whoever registered and voted using the woman's name voted in a Democrat primary. The story has a tip-of-the-iceberg feel to it.

This underscores, to me, the need for more Republicans to be poll officials. My district is 18-6, and I'd be surprised if I wasn't only Republican working as a poll official.

I've been a "machine operator" since the 2006 primaries, and in the last election I was a "judge operator". Until this election, we only had to go the machine operator training. This time, we also had to go to registrar training. That was a real eye opener. They mentioned a case in the last election where a poll official voted for her mom. They caught her and she's facing charges now (if I remember right). I also found out that any citizen has the right to contest the right of any other person to vote. If someone comes in and can't speak a word of English (even though you're required to know how to speak, read, and write English to become an American citizen, then I, as a citizen myself, can contest that person's right to vote.

I think the Republican party, at least in Davidson county, needs to have an organized drive to get more Republicans to become poll officials. There's generally a shortage of officials anyway, and there's especially a shortage of Republicans.
