Pushing Lies

The Tennessean previews the appearance later this week at Vanderbilt University of Guatemalan activist and author Rigoberta Menchu, who won a Nobel Prize for her book I, Rigoberta Menchu, and her work on behalf of the indigenous peoples of her country. What The Tennessean doesn't tell you: Menchu's book was a hoax, a book full of lies, crafted with the help of a leftist French anthropologist to support the efforts of Guatemalan communists. Yet academia and the media continue to praise and promote her work.
