would you like to provide evidence for your argument that democrats slow-walked dui bills? i remember ned mcwherter passing tough dui laws when he was speaker. Posted by: Floyd at February 10, 2008 3:54 PMThe GOP legislation is based on model legislation that several states have enacted. Tennessee's legislature, run by Dems until last year, hasn't enacted them. Instead, they pushed the issue to a study commission. Posted by: Bill Hobbs at February 11, 2008 10:05 AMI can't imagine democrats or republicans trying to take credit for this piece of crap. Subordinating crime where actual harm has been done to crime where there is a remote potential for harm to be done... absurd. It's just a bunch of grand-standing politicians and another bureaucratic power-grab for the arrest and incarceration machine. Bottom line... it's easy to enforce; easy to prosecute and easy to cash in. It will accomplish nothing for public safety in comparison to the liberty and cost to what could be other value added investments in our society. People have lost their damn minds over cops, fines and jails. Post a comment
