« Strike Out | Main | Sen. Kyle's Coup » January 10, 2008Unexcused AbsenceWednesday afternoon, a link to this story appeared on the home page of the website of The Tennessean, under the "latest news and updates" tag. A few minutes later it disappeared and, as of Thursday morning, it does not appear in the paper's current online list of Tennessee government stories. Strange. Posted in Journalism & Media

Bill, did you notice a difference in the text? I had not seen the original, so I'm clueless. Posted by: Christian at January 10, 2008 10:05 AMThere's no difference in the text. The link goes to the story as it appeared yesterday. It is still there in the paper's website files, but it is not linked from the home page or any of the other pages on which you would normally find links to recent stories about state government. In other words, it is an orphaned page that readers of the paper online will never see. It also isn't in the print edition. I found it odd that the paper initially put the link to the story on its home page, then took it down. Posted by: Bill Hobbs at January 10, 2008 10:14 AMPost a comment
