Will somebody please buy the governor and his wife a calculator? The energy-saving features are expected to save $15,000 a year in utility bills, Conte told reporters as she guided them on a mansion tour today. At $15,000 a year in savings, it will take only 733 years for taxpayers to recoup their $11 million investment. Not counting interest and inflation, of course. Of course, the ROI would be a lot quicker if the underground ballroom addition - which has added more than $8 million to the total cost of the mansion project - was canceled. But, you can rest assured that the private donors will get their investment back in one year... it all averages out.... don't you see? Besides, how can we let this or the next governor suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune by having to entertain Al Gore and listen to how much money he is saving over at the Gore Mansion with his questionable energy investment?
