Silenced?

Deborah Tainsh, author of the book Heart of a Hawk will be speaking to the Republican Women of West Wilson at their next meeting, tonight (Dec. 4) at 7 PM at the Mt. Juliet Library. The book tells the story of her son, Sgt. Patrick Tainsh, who was killed in Iraq. Copies of the book will be available for purchase after her talk. A portion of the money goes to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors to support the families of fallen soldiers.

I'm told that Tainsh also was tentatively scheduled to speak at Nashville's Belmont University, hosted by the Belmont College Republicans, but that the event was canceled after opposition by an unspecified "liberal group" at the university. I don't have details, but no university should allow a a political group a veto over speech it doesn't agree with. Perhaps the Belmont College Republicans should schedule for their next event a screening of the excellent new documentary Indoctrinate U.

Update: More political correctness at Belmont?.
