Wait a minute, was this written by the same B-Ho that on this very blog on June 18, 2007 called the community enhancement grant program a \"travesty\"? Is this written by the same B-Ho that on this very blog decried the community enhancement grant program as pork spending far too many times to list? Go ahead, B-Ho, give us the same equivocating b.s. that Jason Mumpower does: \"Well (sniff, sniff) the program is in place and I don\'t like it (snivel) but I\'m going to take part in it for the good of my district (bow your head).\" You and Mumpower believe in nothing. You will say or do anything that you think will gain you partisan advantage. Hope you\'re proud of yourself. Posted by: FreddieMac at December 1, 2007 9:52 AMAnd to point out a little more Republican hypocrisy, Mumpower praises Ron Ramsey in the article you cite. On May 27, 2007, the Kingsport Times News reports that Ramsey said of the community enhancement grant program: “I will try to block that. . . . It is dead on arrival in the state Senate. We are going to fight adamantly about that. ... Any way you characterize it, it is pork barrel spending.” So, Ramsey doesn\'t have the juice to stop bills from passing a chamber he supposedly leads and he\'s as hypocritical as Mumpower and B-Ho. Posted by: FreddieMac at December 1, 2007 10:10 AMThose grants bothered me because we need more prison space desperately. Posted by: Wintermute at December 1, 2007 12:49 PMFreddie, or whatever your real name is that you, cowardly, don't reveal, I and a lot of Republicans in and out of the legislature thought the grants program was a bad idea, and would have preferred that the money (and a lot more of the billion-dollar surplus) be returned to taxpayers via a large cut in the sales tax on food. Some Republican lawmakers felt it was worth trading a vote for the grants program for a small cut in the food tax. Lawmaking - sausage and all that. In the end the legislature passed the program and the governor signed it into law, so at that point each and every legislator had a responsibility to process the grants for their district. Vaughn failed to do so. Posted by: Bill Hobbs at December 1, 2007 5:00 PMWhy were the candidates allowed to give away our votes?? Why weren't we asked, after all the vote does belong to us & now we find out it doesn't count. Why bother voting at all then? Why did they move up the primary? It didn't have a noticeable effect on us & they didn't campaign here but we all have access to the race by way of TV, internet, newspaper, etc. Makes me want to make sure my vote counts, by voting where it counts.
