I wrote this in a comment on the Volunteer Voters blog: Many so-called studies on the costs of illegal aliens fail to include the indirect costs of illegal migration (crime, courts, detention, much more) and the costs of the millions of children born here to illegal aliens, many, if not most, of whom we are subsidizing from the time they are in the womb (via WIC, etc.). So you don t get the full picture. Most illegal aliens pay NO federal income taxes, as I showed a couple of times on Sean s Web site with links to data reported by the IRS itself, based on ITINs issued to illegal aliens. The U.S-born children of illegal aliens are eligible for all U.S. and state welfare programs if the household meets the income and residency qualifiers, and many of these households do get this assistance because of the parents low wages and lack of education, but the money is in the child s name as a U.S. citizen and isn t reported as a cost of illegal migration. These costs can only be estimated. We don t even know how many illegal aliens are in this country. Labor analysts and economics professors and researchers have come up with estimates much higher than the Census Bureau reports/estimates. You can do your own research on the Internet and read many TV and newspaper reports about estimated costs of illegal migration in various counties and states that conclude or imply that Americans are losing more than we are gaining from this tide. And keep in mind the tens of billions of dollars in remittances that leave this country every year as legal immigrants, legal temporary workers, and illegal aliens send portions of their wages to other countries. Posted by: Donna Locke at November 8, 2007 9:46 PMThere is so much Concocted Research and Propaganda, better known as CRAP, coming out of the Comptroller Generals office that their salary should be paid by the DNC and not the taxpayers of Tennessee. Research, in it's looses definition, by the Comptroller Generals office was used to degrade TDOT as an effective transportation department by suggesting that it emulate highway departments with mostly inferior records of performance and heavy transit burdens. It is with the greatest glee that I read about the Comptroller General complaining about economic subsidies that damaged school revenue but it was the Comptroller's BEP2.0 plan that made the income transfers possible from urban to rural systems. That system, based on ability to pay, allowed extra cash to slosh around so mega sites could be bought from 5,500 acres to 400 acres all over the state. There are over 186 square miles of land in Tennessee waiting for the next factory. Finally the Comptroller general sees a problem! There are over 1245 future factory sites from empty and ready to go to just raw land in Tennessee. Our Comptroller General is worthless to the individual taxpayer in Tennessee. Posted by: Danny L.
