Will Others Follow?

State Rep. John Hood, D-Murfreesboro, has announced he will not run for re-election in 2008, a decision that creates a high likelihood that the Republican Party will capture the seat as the 48th district, which includes a big swath of the fast-growing Rutherford County suburbs, is trending Republican. The Republicans need to capture just four seats to gain a majority in the 99-seat House and end Speaker Jimmy Naifeh's corruption-coddling speakership.
