Pledge Drives Passe?

National Review's "The Corner" blog is having a pledge drive. Readers putting money in the tip-jars of their favorite blogs was de rigeur in the blogosphere a couple years ago, but it seems to have become less prominent a feature of the blogosphere since then. Maybe that trend started when Andrew Sullivan, famous for having hugely successful pledge drives and then taking a month off to celebrate, sold his blog to The Atlantic.
