Tennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh famously called people "lowlifes" who called for the resignation of state Rep. Rob Briley in the wake of his arrest on charges of drunk driving, evading arrest (for a lengthy high-speed chase) and vandalism of a police car. Today, Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat like both Naifeh and Briley, called for Briley to resign at least from his chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee.
