I've also got a final-day edition of a newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska, that closed in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Not sure if I want to let that one go as I've only got one. Bill - I'd love to talk about getting one of those from you somehow. I grew up in Nashville and my dad used to bring it home every afternoon so he could read the sports and I could read the comics. Today, having started an digital public affairs firm, having something like the last Nashville Banner in our office would be pretty ironic. You can contact me at blog@fcreek.com. Thanks! Either you assign a rather large threshold to 'almost' or it might be time for some new calculator batteries, Bill.... ;-) Posted by: Doug at August 29, 2007 4:32 AMI've still got my copy. I miss the Banner. When I'm accosted at Kroger by a Tennessean salesman and offered a 'free newspaper', I ask for a copy of the Banner. They used to get it and laugh. But it's been too long now and their sales people don't even know what a Banner is. Posted by: Kay Brooks at August 29, 2007 9:14 AMI can't tell you the exact date the Banner ceased publication, but it was available well into the nineties.
