Birthday Blogging

The Tennessee Republican Party's 31st Annual Statesmen's Dinner is tomorrow night in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, and honored guests at the event will include former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp and U.S. Rep. David Davis, Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey and House Minority Leader Jason Mumpower.

I've been given a press pass to blog the event, but tomorrow is my 43rd birthday. My wife thinks I'm weird for wanting to blog a political event on my birthday. Whaddya you think?

UPDATE: Decided not to go. I hate the long drive from Franklin out to Far Oprylandia, via the Briley Parkway of Death. Had a good birthday, though. Started the day with my son's first-ever teeball game. Got there before the game started and they handed out the jerseys and caps for the first time, and we learned that our team is the "Phillies," complete with the Philadelphia Phillies red cap with the letter P. Seeing as I grew up in Philadelphia, rootin' for the Phils in the era of the great Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Larry Bowa and Greg Luzinski, that's totally cool with me. Followed that with a lazy day of not cutting the grass.

Bill, it's YOUR birthday---if what YOU want is to spend your day there--go for it. The whole trick of honoring folks on their birthday is finding something that would bless them, make them happy, something they'd use and appreciate. Seems to me this fits the "bill" perfectly.

Have a great time. I'll be reading.

Bill, I voted no. I did so because I've attended enough of these events to know that unless Romney shoots Fred Thompson there won't be anything said or done that is news worthy.

They will pat themselves on the back, ignore immigration(how could you be so icky when they are serving you?), and talk about how the polls don't really mean anything at this early stage.

Enjoy your life. There will be plenty of time to cover the train wreck as collision time gets nearer.

No doubt, Raymond knows the truth. Happy birthday, Bill. Follow your heart.

It's your birthday! Do what you want. It will only last a couple of hours, and you should be done by 8 PM to do whatever else you like!

I once worked with a guy who was not the slightest bit interested in sports, not even the NFL. It taught me that people do not need to follow my passions, just their own and God bless them. It is your birthday, you should do what you want. Happy B-day.

Bill -

Do what you want to do. If you decide not to attend, I've got your back. Lamar invited us, so we'll be there (providing that TDOT doesn't set up too many tollbooths between KnoxVegas and Nashville). I'll have a post up one way or the other.

Of course, if you do attend, hunt me down...

Cheers,

Rob
