"We Should Not Even Be Contemplating a Tax Increase."

tnflag.jpgHouse Republican Caucus Chairman Glen Casada, R-Franklin, has an op-ed in today's Tennessean contrasting how the Republicans and Democrats in the state House view fiscal policy.

The fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans has been revealed this year: The Democrats want to spend every penny of the surplus and raise taxes by a quarter-billion dollars, and the Republicans want tax relief for Tennessee families and to slow down the growth of government. We don't have a revenue problem in this state, we have a spending problem, and this year's budget will only lead to a tax increase in a few years. In a year with such unprecedented growth, we should not even be contemplating a tax increase.
