The Return of Jimmy Soprano

tnflag.jpgTennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh violated House rules to kill a tort-reform bill he didn't like and, although all House sessions are now video-recorded, there's no video. This isn't the first time Naifeh has violated the rules to kill legislation he didn't like. And it isn't the first time video from a controversial House session has inexplicably become inaccessible.

Just as he did last year, Naifeh killed a bill by pretending not to see legislators' hands raised in opposition to a parliamentary manuever. This time, however, while the video was "disappeared," a separate audio recording survived. David Oatney has the story, as does Kleinheider. And Ben Cunningham has two posts on it, here and here.
