Bredesen's Behemoth Budget

tnflag.jpgGov. Phil Bredesen's behemoth budget proposal - at $28 billion it is half a billion dollars larger than the budget Bredesen proposed three months ago and $10 billion more than the state budget when he took office five years ago - has prompted a no-pulled-punches response from state Rep. Stacey Campfield, who also lays into "weak" Republicans who aren't standing up to oppose Bredesen and demand he use some of the state's surplus to cut taxes. Campfield:

If you can't find courage to vote against a tax increase with the level of spending increases we have had and the surpluses we have then you probably never will. It is time to step up.

And Terry Frank explains how the Republican-lead Senate is not only failing to protect Tennesseans from Bredesen's rapacious tax-and-spendaholism, but is actively abetting him.
