« Did Corker Vote to Defund the Troops? | Main | Colleges Try Cell Phones, YouTube To Get Word Out » March 20, 2007Kurdistan RisingMichael Totten reports from the part of Iraq where the war is over and the future is developing at full speed. With amazing photos of a rising American ally in the Middle East. I wonder - could continued American military efforts in Iraq's war-torn Sunni and Shia provinces just be a holding action to allow Iraqi Kurdistan to continue to develop peacefully until it is strong enough to defend itself against future attacks from Sunni Iraq? The problem for the Kurds is not the Sunnis (or the Shia) but our "allies" the Turks. If they start to succeed, particularly as an independent entity, they pose a grave threat to the government in Ankara. We could easily, if we choose not to abandon the Kurds (again) end up in a shooting war with a NATO member. Posted by: Watchman at March 20, 2007 3:21 PMPost a comment
