The first Al Gore story wasn't a "bombshell." Yawn. Posted by: Mack at March 5, 2007 11:07 AMMaybe it was a bombshell, maybe not. But those who support Gore-style environmentalism have to say that either (1) Gore is a hypocrite, or (2) There are special exemptions for "important" people. Neither of those are particularly appealing choices for the Gore lover. Personally, I choose option 1. I have no more use for Gore's moralistic attacks than I do for those of Jerry Falwell. And mind you, I use CF bulbs and recycle everything that can be recycled. Nick Kasoff The bombshell ought to be that the SEC is investigating whether publicly traded companies are members of the Chicago Climate Exchange, and if they are buying Vintage 2003, no-till farming Carbon Financial Instruments. The National Assocation of Security Dealers should not be associated in any way with this Carbon Trading scam. By the way, I have two CFIs, packaged for the environmentally minded, for sale: 1 Vintage 1983-2006, tree and shrub combo* -- 3 Arborvitae, 2 Pecan, 3 Red Cedar, 4 Larch, 1 Almond, 3 Yew, and 1 Birch (slightly storm damaged) still available. A new 2007-2010 10,000 sf 2" (avg) tall stand of lawn, non-motorized mowed*. Price negotiable. Get them before Al does. * Erosion Control and Sediment Runoff, Aesthetic City Living, Soil Aeration, and Summer Afternoon Party Credits sold separately. I am looking for evidence that the Gores have owned gas guzzling vehicles (such as SUVs) in the past, and I mean besides the current Lexus Hybrid SUV. Do you have any information about whether the Gores owned SUVs in the past. I figure that since they have had four kids, they weren't exactly driving small, economy cars. Posted by: Ron at March 5, 2007 5:44 PMNick, you may want to reconsider your recycling practices during this time of unprecedented danger to our continued existence. Consumer recycling of aluminum reduces net CO2 emissions, but other forms of consumer recycling may not. If you won't listen to Al Gore, at least listen to Leonardo di Capprio: Only Ten Years to Save the Planet. We must make every action count. Atmospheric carbon is the only thing that really matters right now. Don't be surprised if you have some conflicting feelings. I sometimes stay awake at night worrying about increasing my carbon footprint by recycling. I'm not sure what to do. Posted by: KarenT at March 7, 2007 3:12 PMPost a comment
