« Second Blog Legislation Poorly Drafted, Expert Says | Main | Legislators Propose Making Legislature Subject to Open Records Laws » February 7, 2007State Senate Makes It Easier To Track Legislation
Also, if you want to track bills by subject, you can do so online here. For example, you can see a list of all filed bills impacting sales taxes, or education or public records, or immigration. Update: When I posted this item at 7:30 a.m., only the Senate website offered the lists of bills sponsored by each legislator, so I emailed Steven Kriegish, the director of the legislature's Office of Information Services asking when the sponsor-list info might be available online for the House members. He emailed back a short time later announcing that it had just been made available. You can access it here. Great! Now I'd like to suggest a Phase 2 improvement: Providing a direct link from each legislator's web page, and from the House and Senate members' lists to the online campaign contributions database for each legislator. Bill, Correct me if I am wrong but the Senate does not have video streaming - floor sessions or committee meetings. The House does. Why is that the case? I may be wrong on that but that is the way it seems. I should add though that if you miss something live you have to wait a day or two for it to be archived -no idea why that is the case. Posted by: Martin Kennedy at February 7, 2007 9:25 AMThe delay is so they can think up an excuse for missing segments like last year. Posted by: Rick Forman at February 7, 2007 11:15 AMCome on. The Senate is streamed just like the House. Look under the Senate heading and click "Video Streaming" The session is archived upon completion and is currently available for viewing within minutes. Posted by: Elsie at February 7, 2007 2:40 PMI'm counting more immigration-related bills than those listed in the Legislature's bill subject index. It just depends on how the bills are described.
