Welcome to the Conversation

The Tennessean has launched two new reporter-written blogs, a traffic blog by Kate Howard and a Predators hockey blog by John Glennon. They appear to be real blogs, complete with permalinks and the ability for readers to post comments. It will be interesting to watch and see how the blogs develop in a number of ways: How often the reporters post to the blogs, how valuable the information is that they post on the blogs, how far afield from their core subject area they are allowed to stray, how opinionated they are permitted to be, how many reader comments they get - and how they handle and respond to readers' comments.

In a pleasing bit of history to me, both Howard and Glennon posted their first blog entries on Nov. 30, 2006, exactly five years to the day that I first started blogging.
