The Rise of the Blogs

Rob Huddleston:

"The national media's inadequacy has been magnified by the rise of the blogs, for sure. That's why they interview bloggers, as a way of catching up on what has been going on in each race.

Comments

In general, journalists hoard information when bloggers collaborate. Open source in software and services, portals for distributed education, the open standards movement, and grassroots political organizing all have taken advantage of collaboration. Journalist "time cache" their stories and bloggers post immediately; iTunes and YouTube show immediacy is now "a necessary but not sufficient" characteristic required by a time-starved readership.
