Fall Creek Falls

fallcreekfalls022.jpgI took my daughter to Fall Creek Falls State Park yesterday and we hiked down to the base of the falls. Fall Creek Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains, plunging 256 feet into a shaded pool at the base of its gorge. It's a fairly short hike, but a little difficult as the trail is mostly uneven rocks, and steep in places.

She pronounced the experience "lame but cool," which I'm taking as high praise from my eight-year-old. The leaves are starting to turn autumn colors in a few spots up on the Cumberland Plateau, especially at Fall Creek Falls.

Gas was $2.45 a gallon in Cookeville.

This may be my last posted photo for awhile. Shortly after taking this shot I hiked to the base of the falls, and in wading in the water to set up for another shot, I slipped, and my Canon Digital Rebel took a brief dip in the pool. The camera body seems fine, but my Canon 28-135mm zoom got water in it and now has water spots on some of the internal glass. Bill,
Thanks for buying gas in Cookeville. We need the tax revenue.

My condolences regarding your camera. The Fall Creek Falls are very pretty. Last time I was there, the water level was particularly high and we got soaked before we got within a hundred yards of the falls.

I spent my senior year spring break at fall creek falls. "Lame but cool" was also what my friends thought. Some things don't change with age, I guess?

Bummer about the lens.
