Philanthropy by Force

By Ben Cunningham
Now here is a new one, a "Quality of Life Tax". Apparently the concept didn't go over very well in West Memphis.

"Commissioner Deanna Archuleta, who sponsored the bill, said it will provide operational costs that many organizations have no other way of getting."

How about EARNING it commissioner, like the freaking taxpayer!

Nothing like forced charity. And in Nashville they are 501(c)(3) tax exempt.

A total of $2,313,000 is being awarded for Fiscal Year 2006 by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, a 16% increase over 2005 when $2,002,000 was granted.

Again we have another example of government fascism where the benevolent "informed" decide which tax exempt organization or agency succeeds or fails. At your expense of course.

I invite you to take a stroll some rainy Sunday afternoon through this list and know what the government has picked for you to fund. At least with United Way you get to select the charity you want to support.

Knox County has the same information here.

Come on people, don't be dupes as Daniel Webster alluded. Become informed!
