Another One Bites the Dust

This report sez state Sen. Kathryn Bowers, one of five current or former Democrats in the state Senate facing federal corruption indictments, likely will resign today - though it appears the Senator video taped taking bribes will claim she's resigning for health reasons rather than the obvious: She gets her lifetime legislative pension if she resigns before the election, and if she pleads guilty or is convicted, that money will be good to have. Good riddance to Sen. Bowers. The good news: the culture of corruption tolerated by the leaders of the Tennessee Democratic Party is slowly being swept out of the legislature, though not fast enough. The bad news: You have never heard Gov. Bredesen, Lt. Gov. John Wilder, state Sen. Doug Henry or other top Dems call for their resignaton or ouster.

This is great news Bill! But there's still three more to go.

State Sen. Kathryn Bowers, awaiting trial on federal corruption charges, announced Monday she is resigning from the Legislature because of poor health.

Wasn't there a bill passed this year that dealt with corrupt legislators? I think it only applies to new entering office holders though. It should have applied to ALL legislators. Why reward corrupt politicians irregardless of their tenure in Nashville?

That is unless there is the potential for more indictments.
