« Qualifacts Update: Tennessee Media Giving Bredesen a Pass | Main | Mumbai Train Bombing »

The Bigger the Surplus, the Smaller the Media Coverage

The state of Tennessee announced yesterday that the state's tax revenue surplus will be significantly larger than the $300 million surplus the governor and legislature raced to spend just two months ago. So far, online one news media outlet in the state thought that was newsworthy - the Memphis Business Journal, which regurgitated the press release on its website. I don't mind giving you better coverage of the story than the mainstream media does - I just wonder why I have to do their job.

After reading the title to this entry I said to myself "it's because all they do is regurgitate press releases".

That's the difference between blogs and msm. You can counter that the bloggers often have an agenda; but I'm happy to have the details revealed whatever the motivation of the source.

Evidently others are too.
