Lush Life Update: Business Interruptus

Well, U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, last seen crashing his car into a barrier while driving under the influence, is off to rehab his public image. ACK ain't buying Rep. Patrick Kennedy's show of remorse:

Courage? He was caught. The Capitol Police tried to cover it up for him. Then he said there was no alcohol involved. Then he copped to sleeping pills. Then it came out that he did have some drinks.

He didn't have a choice. He was exposed. This is a craven act to protect his position. You think this is honorable? Congressmen are elected every two years. If he was so concerned about overcoming his addiction and atoning for mistakes, he would have resigned.

The kid is only a Congressman because he's a Kennedy. He's been in trouble his whole life. He's not sorry. He's mildly embarrassed -- maybe. He's gonna do his obligatory stint in rehab -- like any privileged affluent screw-up -- and then go back to the business of being a Kennedy.

"...and then go back to the business of being a Kennedy." Well put, by A.C. Kleinheider at VolunteerVoters.com

He's following in Teddy's footsteps. It was well known that Teddy was caught several times in possesion of a 2 ton projectile but given special treatment. He took aim at the Capitol police also.

What would have happened had this been a Republican? Pelosi would have immediately called for an ethics investigation, hearings about corruption in the Capitol police department and of course a special prosecutor.

Back in the days of Papa Joe's bootlegging, Eliot Ness referred to these masters of corruption as, "the untouchables". Looks like the Kennedys are continuing that legacy.
