AP stories that appear on the websites of the 440 AP members that subscribe to the AP's Hosted Custom News Web product will show a module featuring the "Top Five Most Blogged About" articles. Readers can click on a story and see a Technorati.com search page listing blogs that are writing about the story. "Blogger voices will now be heard in several hundred local online news organizations," said Technorati's chairman, Peter Hirshberg. "I believe that this is a deep validation of the power of citizen media."Upside: More exposure for blogs. Downside: More bloggers mentioning the each of the top five stories on their blogs just to get links from the AP sites, without really having anything new or worthwhile to add to the conversation.
