Today's Reading List

The War: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's former terrorist-turned president/nuclear terrorist wannabe declares war on Christians in Iran. ... Also, a soldier in Iraq responds to President Bush's speech. ... Fareed Zakaria says now is not the time for America to panic and hastily exit Iraq. Says Zakaria, "Condoleezza Rice, who is now in control of Iraq policy in a way no one has been, has spearheaded a political-military strategy for Iraq that is sophisticated and workable."

Condi in 2008...

Politics: Some Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers have criminal records - including felonies - reports The Tennessean today. The head of the THP wants officers to get their criminal records expunged, so nobody will know we have criminals serving as state troopers. The good news: the governor appears to be waking up to the fact that the Tennessee Highway Patrol is a deeply troubled agency.

Also in political news, the Nashville City Paper reports that a Nashville clothing manufacturer with operations in Mexico is "at the center of a national controversy over the 'Made In Mexico' labels that appear on uniforms worn by U.S. Border Patrol officials." A big fear among Border Patrol agents: someone could infiltrate a Mexican factory and steal uniforms, allowing them to impersonate Border Patrol agents and cross the border.

It's just a thought, but perhaps if we hired enough Border Patrol agents to actually secure our Mexican border, there would be enough jobs in Mexico making Border Patrol uniforms that very few Mexicans would feel the need to sneak illegally into our country, thus solving our problem of being overrun by illegal immigrants.
