More on the Ethics Bill

by Adam Groves
Read my co-guest blogger Matthew White's take on the proposal that the joint ethics committee passed. Something the AP story missed appears in the Knoxville News Sentinel:

The language [that declares all meetings of the legislature open to the public], however, is not as tight as open government advocates wished and is somewhat confusing, said Frank Gibson, executive director of the Tennessee Coalition on Open Government. It also will expire at the end of the 2006 legislative session.
How's that for swiss cheese. Bob Krumm also has reaction. I hope that the Legislature is able to correct some glaring flaws in this "grand" compromise bill during the special session. More in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Nashville City Paper, Tennessean, and Chattanooga Times Free Press
