« Why Lie About That? | Main | Why is the MSM Ignoring Oklahoma Muslim Suicide Bomber? » October 5, 2005WSJ/Zogby Poll Shows Bryant Only GOP Candidate Who Can Beat FordA new poll conducted for the Wall Street Journal by the national polling firm Zogby International reveals that Ed Bryant is the strongest Republican candidate in Tennessee's U.S. Senate race - and the only Republican to win a majority of the general election vote - when matched up against likely Democrat nominee Harold Ford Jr. According to the scientific survey, Bryant would defeat Ford by more than 11 percentage points: Harold Ford Jr. 40% The Wall Street Journal's survey was conducted September 16-21, 2005 as part of its effort to track 17 key Senate races and 21 gubernatorial races. The margin of error is +/- 3.7%. Bryant has maintained a solid lead in three of the four scientific polls taken on the Republican primary candidates this year, included a March 2005 poll conducted by the national firm Harrison Hickman for Ford which also showed Bryant leading among the Republican candidates with 35% of the Republican primary voters and defeating Ford in a general election. The Wall Street Journal poll showed that Ford tested better against 2002 gubernatorial nominee Van Hilleary - holding Hilleary below a majority (49.6% vs. 41.2%). The Wall Street Journal opted not to test candidate Bob Corker against Ford. Posted in 2006 TN Senate Race

Hobbs, I know you hate it when I post those uncomfortable doses of reality. But shouldn't somebody mention that this is a huge drop in the polls for Bryant? And if he continues trending this way, wouldn't he be in the negative numbers by the time of the election? "What Bryant didn?t tell you was that his lead over Ford has decreased 34% in the past month." Now, I know you hate it when I link to other sites, but it wouldn't be fair for me to take credit for detecting this since I am quoting from the full stor at www.conservativesforcorker.blogspot.com. This political junkie thought U.S. Rep.Harold Ford Jr. was a dead duck in the U. S. Senate race because of the Ford family scandals involving his uncle John Ford. Not to mention being African-American. And a liberal. And from Memphis. And being very young. And from Memphis. I still think he's a dead duck.
