Reports here, here, here, and here. And here's the PDF of the cover of today's New Orleans Times Picayune. Pray for the people of New Orleans, Biloxi and the rest of the Gulf Coast. Hundreds of thousands of them have just had their world completely and catastophically transformed. They will rebuild and it will be better before - Americans always do it that way - but it will take years. Comments
I was just thinking of the poor souls affected by Katrina and about the aid needed to get this devestated area back to some semblance of normal. The thought struck me of the tsunami relief efforts and how on about day 3 or 4 the US had already donated 400M and we were in rapid response mode. Remember how that gutless organization the UN, actually the undersecretary Jan England, I believe it was, called the United States "stingy" and Kofi was found to be on vacation in Jackson Hole skiing? Now that the United States has a huge distaster on its hands where is the UN and the rest of the world? How much relief will they donate to the Katrina disaster? How many teams of emergengy responders will the rest of the world send? Funny? I guess the UN is going to ignore this one. Who are the real cheepskates?
