OK, time to see how good Newton's attorney is - the indictment incorrectly refers to him (Newton) as a State Senator

I wonder, were all of these future felons of a GOP bent, whether WaPo or NYT would have a story up by now? Not even Google has it on the front page.

Just remember, my Republican friends, these Demcrats were busted doing a very Republican thing, that is, helping the rich get richer. At least that's what they thought they were doing.

The sad story is that the true Democrat party was taken over long ago by Republicans in sheeps clothing. These arrests can only improve the Democrats party.

Kevin,

The Democrats are and have always been about the rich getting richer. The richest, largest, most powerful corporation in any town is the town government and it’s employees, in the state the state government, ditto the feds. Government employees are better paid, better benefited, better pensioned than their private counterparts. FDR, richest family. Kennedy's, one of the richest family, Kerry, by and sell Bushes with pocket money. Soros, Buffet, Hollywood, New York. As to poor Democrats, you're just voting serfs for the party, and get what dumb, hat tugging, knee walking slaves always get. Nothing.

Does this mean that John Ford will resign as chairman of his nephew Harold Jr's U.S. Senate campaign?/s. Of course, the Imus-loving msm will never even allude to this connection.

Paul,

Hear, Hear. I could not have said it better.

Kevin,

Your attempt at spin is so pathetic. Crawl back under the rock sir and await further orders from your democrat masters.

Bill

PS. Newton is a RINO, not a conservative. He will love it the big house if guilty & convicted.

Helping the rich get richer is definitely a Democrat thing, and to say otherwise is to wallow in ignorance. Look at opensecrets, see who gets all the big donations from the wealthy.

It's unimaginable to me that people still don't get it. The whole campaign finance reform bill was simply a sucker play to the Dems- they get most of their money from rich donors while the Republicans get most of theirs from many smaller donations. Hence, the Dems have been forced to put together organizations such as MoveOn to get around the laws.

I'm still astounded that it had reached the point that a state senator would outright tell someone how much his fee was for pushing legislation.

Dude, helping the rich get richer is a politician thing, and isn't restricted (or even significantly more common) to one side or the side.

Yet, it is a very Republican thing to constantly work to make Government smaller, and thus weaker, so that it less ability to inforce regulations on big business. Big business can then make more money, having to worry less about things like the environment, dispite the fact that more people than ever are getting cancer, the number of cases of people, especially children, is sky rocketing, and that the ranks of those living in poverty are growning by leaps and bounds. These are the effects of Repubicans, and big business buying our politicians.

Kevin

Almost every word you wrote is wrong. Average life expectancy has been rising steadily. Poverty has been greatly reduced - our poor have more food, more living space, more cars, more toys, TVs, appliances, than the middle class of Europe. We also take care of the environment far better than the rest of the world, because we have the resources. Tour a socialist country to see what environmental disasters are all about.

My apologies for my last post as it had one typo. sky rocketing cases of children with "athsma." The athsma was left out. I'm feeling under the weather myself cold/allergies etc.

From the US department of health and human services: http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/asthma.htm
Quote: Allergic diseases, including asthma, are among the major causes of illness and disability in the United States. Illness and death from asthma have been increasing in this country for the past 15 years and are particularly high among poor, inner-city African-Americans. Although asthma is only slightly more prevalent among minority children than among whites, it accounts for three times the number of deaths. Low socioeconomic status, exposure to urban environmental contaminants, lack of access to medical care, and lack of self-management skills all contribute to the increase in deaths in minority communities.

On cancer you're right. According to the world health organization, cancer is totally out of control in developing nations, well anywhere but the U.S. And, although up until recently cancer was on the increase in the U.S., for the past 5 years it's been on the decline - a small but obvious decline.

And that struck me kinda funny. So, I've been doing a little research. Of course it just lead to more questions, but what I've found is interesting and should be pursued.

There are claims that the drop in cancer in America is due to things like people smoking less, but actually the cancer rate is dropping faster than the smoking rate - (still, the drop in both rates is miniscule) - obviously something else is going on. One thing I noticed was that the drop in cancer rates began about the same time NAFTA went into effect. Again, this requires more investigation, but there's a corelation between the drop in cancer rates and manufacturers moving to Mexico and Canada.

We all know how America is the great consumer. There could also be a link between all these goods that America consumes that are manufactured overseas and the high cancer rates of people in the countries we inport them from.

Yes, it was part of Nafta that Mexico agree to pass new laws to protect the environment there, but recent visits to Mexico by several groups have shown that they are not enforcing such regulations.

You can read about the enviromental effects of Nafta on Mexico here:http://www.earlham.edu/~pols/17Fall97/nafta/environmental.htm

America is a rich country, and the Rich in America are using and abusing the poor in America, and Poor nations around the world, to make themselves even richer. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. And the cost of this is human suffering, people living in poverty, people living with poor health, people living in unsafe environments.

This is what politicians cause when the cater to the rich passing laws that favor the wealthy - like deregulation. Have you ever seen a true Republican stand up for the rights and dignity of the poor? Tell me about it.
