The Day After Today

I turn 40 tomorrow. Not later this year. Not in a few months. Not even a few weeks from now, or next week.

Tomorrow.

40.

Tomorrow.

Sympathy gifts welcomed.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it
... and I feel fine

I could give you all kinds of cliches to help you through this passage, but the truth is it sucks. I will say, however, that 30 was tougher for me than 40, and 50 was no walk in the park. Assuming God gives you your 3 score and ten -- plus another ten for being a conservative -- you've just reached the halfway point. Happy birthday, Bill.

Actually, 40 isn't that bad. I hit it back in February. The world didn't stop spinning, I didn't instantly turn grey nor gain sudden wrinkles or anything.

Hell, turning 25 was more traumatic (the "Quarter of a Century" deal and all that). 40 is just a number. I really believe age is a state of mind, and frankly, I'm stuck at about age 24 (though my husband will say it's more like age 10 at times)

It's not that bad, it's really only as bad as you make it out to be. Sit back and enjoy it. Go out to dinner to places that give a free meal on your birthday or get a free drink (see, told you I think/act like a 10 year old at times).

Have a wonderful birthday and just enjoy the hell out of it!

Same way most guys have a change of personality at 30, they have another at 40 or so. You'll find you like your forties, Bill. Only thing I don't like is how muscle pain doesn't disappear with just a good night's sleep any more.

40! How wonderful! I'm thankful for each birthday of mine that comes around, and look hopefully toward the next one. Use your time well and you should have no regrets.

Thanks for the advice, Mom.

Happy birthday.

Forty wasn't bad. Don't worry. You'll find a lot to like in your forties.

Fifty sucks.
