« Ironically, This Post Is A Month Late | Main | What To Do, What To Do » February 26, 2004Passion ReviewHere's an extremely thoughtful review of The Passion of the Christ by Mark D. Roberts, a California pastor and blogger whose excellent blog I found thanks to Hugh Hewitt. Part of what makes the brutality in The Passion of the Christ so hard to watch is the fact that our usual defenses don't work. When I see a particularly violent scene in a movie, I can relieve the tension in my soul by whispering to myself: "It's only a movie. This didn't really happen." But even though what I saw in Gibson's film wasn't really the crucifixion of Christ, it was enough like the real crucifixion that I couldn't pretend that nothing like this had ever happened to anyone.Read the whole thing. I also rather enjoyed his post yesterday about Lent. Comments
Orson Scott Card did a really good essay on the film as well, at the Ornery American website. Posted by: zeluna at February 27, 2004 9:02 AMPost a comment
